To achieve socio-economic development in any community, peace and unity need to be fostered to allow effective planning, cooperation and team work. One perfect expression of this notion is the marriage of the game of peace(football) and the gospel of peace.
The Haven of love Children’s Foundation, in line with this notion, came up with the idea of soccer outreaches among the youths in the various communities within its operational area as a means of fostering peace and unity within these communities and as well, bring the gospel to these youths.
In pursuance of this goal, the foundation organized a soccer outreach on the 30th of June, 2019 at Tanga community, where the youths of the area came together as a team to play against the foundation’s soccer team. The Tanga community youth were so excited to win the game after which the gospel was preached to them. The preacher among many things said, “…Any team that wins a cup in any tournament stands to benefit things such as wealth, fame e.t.c.Much more however, are the benefits to anyone who receives Jesus Christ into his life.Such a person gains benefits such as internal peace, blessings and above all, eternal life”.
The event continued with lots of fun activities and refreshments. It became obvious to everyone that one of the lady directors who opened the game knew little about playing soccer when she kicked the ball in a manner that got everyone laughing. The coach of the Tanga team, Mr.Musah Amos, made a clarion call for the foundation to organize more of such soccer events and to get more communities involved. The Chief of Teshie community, Naaba Victor Avuugi , also graced the occasion with his presence to show his support not minding the distance. He took a motorcycle ride for more than 3km to be present.
