REGISTRATION OF DORA APIBILA
One of Haven of Love’s missions is “To improve the quality of life of vulnerable and marginalised children in rural communities between the ages of 0-18, situated in Ghana which in turn develops the socio-economic wellbeing of the country”. This narrative finds its embodiment in the work of Budding Hope, an initiative of the Haven of Love Children’s Foundation, dedicated to restoring hope to teenage mothers and orphaned girls in Ghana.
Founded under the empowerment umbrella of the Haven of Love Children’s Foundation, Budding Hope set out on its mission to provide tangible pathways to a brighter future for young girls facing significant challenges. This initiative began its journey on June 3, 2017 in Zebilla, situated in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region of Ghana. The core objective of Budding Hope is to equip vulnerable girls with essential skills through various training programs such as baking, tailoring, hairdressing, and literacy education. By doing so, the initiative not only imparts practical skills but also fosters a sense of self-worth and capability among its beneficiaries. By the end of 2017, four girls were already enrolled in sewing apprenticeships, each equipped with their own sewing machines.
A young orphan, Dora, from Agaago in the Bawku West District faced significant challenges following the passing of her father. With her mother struggling to make ends meet for their family, Dora stood at a precarious crossroads, vulnerable to exploitation and deprivation. Recognizing Dora’s plight and the urgent need for intervention, Budding Hope extended its hand of support. In April 2023, Dora was officially registered into the program, securing a spot previously vacant in the sewing apprenticeship. Thanks to the generosity of donor partners, Dora received her own sewing machine and tailoring tools free of charge, laying the foundation for her journey towards self-sufficiency and empowerment.
Budding Hope stands as a beacon of light in the lives of teenage mothers and orphaned girls in Ghana, offering not just skills training but a pathway to a brighter, more hopeful future. Through its dedicated efforts and the support of its partners, this initiative continues to transform lives, one girl at a time, embodying the true essence of empowerment and compassion.
