HERNIA SCREENING
Between the 10th and 14th of January 2022 the foundation, in collaboration with Christian Service International and Ghana Health Service, embarked on a vital mission to conduct hernia screenings in cluster-based communities within the Bawku West District. This initiative spanned several communities, including Binaba, Gbantongo, Zongoyire, Timonde, Tilli, Widnaba Teshie, Googo, and Sapeliga.
The primary goal of this campaign was to identify children aged 0-16 with hernias, ensuring they receive the necessary surgical intervention scheduled for March 2022.
During the screening, a total of 57 cases of hernia were confirmed with the following breakdown:
● Teshie: 6 confirmed cases
● Zongoyire: 12 confirmed cases
● Binaba: 8 confirmed cases
● Gbantongo/Boya: 13 confirmed cases
● Timonde/Tanga: 5 confirmed cases
● Sapeliga: 0 confirmed cases
● Tilli/Widnaba: 4 confirmed cases
● Binduri: 2 confirmed cases
● Zebilla: 7 confirmed cases
This screening effort is a crucial step towards ensuring the health and well-being of the children in these communities. By identifying and addressing hernia cases early, we can prevent complications and improve the quality of life for these young individuals.
