GREEN GHANA DAY
Picture this: young enthusiastic students with an eco-warrior spirit, ready to take on the world! To achieve the goal of preserving our planet, the next generation must be armed with the knowledge and skills of how to protect their environment and tackle climate change using whatever is at their disposal. Which is why Haven of Love Foundation has curated programs with a mission to educate young minds to be true stewards of their environment through exciting activities such as clean-up or tree-planting exercises with school children. Haven of Love wants to ensure that the next generation imbibe the consciousness of protecting and enhancing our environment and in turn help achieve sustainable development goals 3, 6, 7, 13, 14, and 15.
Now, let’s fast forward to a day filled with excitement and green vibes—the Green Ghana Day! This fantastic celebration was a part of the re-greening Ghana campaign, and Haven of Love Foundation wanted to make it extra special.With a mission to induce a positive change in behavior among school children and to tackle the global issue of deteriorating climatic patterns head-on, they organized an effective one-day education and tree-planting exercise in conjunction with the Department of Parks and Garden in the Bawku West District and World Vision Ghana.
Once it was time for some hands-on eco-fun, Haven of Love Foundation distributed Moringa, Cashew, Neem, and Acacia seedlings to the eager kids. Armed with shovels and smiles, they embarked on a tree-planting extravaganza. Every seedling they planted was a symbol of hope—a promise to protect and enhance their environment for generations to come. Haven of Love Foundation didn’t just stop at one school; they spread the green magic to three other school: Zeogo Primary, Yarigu Primary and Aniego Primary were also part of this exciting program.
Across the district, 33 tree seedlings found their new homes not only in the ground but in the hearts of the young stewards as well. The kids in the beneficiary schools received extensive eco-education. They learned all about the importance of trees and how to protect and nurture them for a greener tomorrow. Armed with newfound skills, these youngsters are ready to take on any tree-planting adventure themselves. As with any worthwhile endeavor, challenges are bound to present themselves. One of such challenge was the limited number of seedlings available to reach more schools and get more children involved with these exciting campaign. However, fueled by passion and dedication and with your support, Haven of Love Foundation is determined to overcome these challenges continue on this mission to educate the next generation on the need to preserve their future by protecting their home, Earth.
